The BA Story.

Bao Alchemy was carefully and mindfully created by me, Mindy Wheeler, a beauty nutritionist, skin care specialist and makeup artist. After 10 years in the beauty industry, I had seen it all and used it all. I went on a journey of skin
discovery beginning with chemical filled products that promised ‘perfect complexions’ to products that were advertised as natural but were anything but. Something was becoming more and more apparent to me, none of those
products were truly offering my skin what it needed and were actually causing my skin long-term damage that I was completely unaware of. My studies on skin nutrition set me on a path of discovery that would change the way I look at caring for my skin forever. I learnt how to treat skin issues and concerns through the diet and finally I achieved the natural glow we all strive for. I felt empowered with this knowledge and this lead me to start experimenting in my home lab with all of those wonderful skin-healing foods to turn them into topical skin care that ticked all of the skin health boxes. Thus Bao Alchemy was born. An all natural, handmade, small batch, cruelty free, sustainable and ethical skin care range you can feel good about.
The name Bao Alchemy was born out of my love for Baobab Oil. Native to Africa, this majestic tree has been revered for thousands of years. Known as ‘the tree of life’ with a long list of medicinal purposes, it has proven itself time and time again and continues to live up to its name today, nourishing communities in many ways. The oil is cold pressed from the Baobab seed and boasts a long list of beautiful, nourishing skin loving goodness such as Vitamin A & F for cell renewal, Vitamin C - 6 times more powerful than that of an orange to brighten complexion, promote collagen production and fade pigmentation, Omega 3, 6 & 9 essential fatty acids to restore and protect the skins moisture barrier, Vitamin E to heal and fight against pollution, Vitamin D contributes to cell growth and repair, Vitamins B1 & B2 to improve skin tone and create balance, loaded with free radical scavenging antioxidants that repair and prevent cellular rusting. That’s just to name a few, safe to say Baobab is the hero of Bao Alchemy with all of its magical skin loving powers.

Why small batch?

Bao Alchemy products are lovingly handmade in small batches. Our organic, natural and toxin-free ingredients have a shorter shelf life than those that have been chemically treated or preserved. Small batches allow us to keep it fresh and provide customers with naturally preserved products that will last for an appropriate time without compromising brand integrity. Every body wins!

Ingredients

All ingredients are sourced from sustainable and ethical suppliers and are of the highest quality. Vegan. Cruelty free. All natural and plant based. Organic ingredients are always a priority and 80% of our ingredients are certified organic. Our goal is to be 100% certified organic by 2023. All non-organic ingredients are non-toxic.

Sustainability

So many small every day things have such a huge and significant impact on our beautiful planet. We want want our every day things to impact in a positive way to help protect and restore this beautiful place we all call home. Our products do not come packaged in cosmetic boxes. We use glass bottles and jars due to the true recyclability of glass. Our eco postbags and eco postage labels are compostable and recyclable. The sun powers Bao Alchemy lab and the rain gifts our lab with water.

Bao Alchemy is handmade on Gubbi Gubbi Country with respect for the Gubbi Gubbi people, the Elders past, present and emerging. We honour and acknowledge the traditional Custodians and are grateful to call this sacred land home. We are continuously undergoing a process of cultural and spiritual learning and are indebted to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples for their wisdom and teachings of Mother Earth.
